Unboxing Liger Zero Marking Plus

My new Zoids have finally arrived! Shipping to New Zealand cost as much as another whole Liger in and of itself, but it is still a lot better than the $160 price tag the cheapest store has (that’s approx €93, ¥11300, $105USD, you get the idea).

I apologise for the potato photos.

Current Ligers, my Liger Zero Marking Plus Version should be coming in August/September

Of course I got out my backlog, which contains an older version Liger Zero Jager to do some comparisons. First observation: the black, brown and bluish parts are modeled in exactly the same colours. The Zoid core and eye pieces have the same colour and mouldings are the same, no suprises there.

Now we are getting into some differences, besides the box art. The original Zero box has a yellow Zabre getting lazer clawed, the marking plus version has a red one and the original Schneider box had Leon’s Red Blade Liger as the opponent, whereas the marking plus version is battling a Red Horn.

There are some small variations in the colour used for a couple of runners. The red plastic of the caps in the Marking Plus version are slightly darker and gold of the leg pistons and springs have a darker gold to them than the Jager. I cannot compare the colour of the armour themselves so if anyone has both the older versions that come with the painted Bit Cloud pilot figure and the marking plus versions of the four Zeros, I would be keen to know.

So in conclusion, there are a few very minor cosmetic differences between the Marking Plus and older versions of the Liger Zero armour variants. If you already own the set and are satisfied then I would not recommend buying the Marking Plus unless you really can’t live without the new decals or box art.
