Covid day zero

It was Christmas eve and I picked up my brother to bring to the family house to stay the night. He wasn’t feeling too perky, but I couldn’t blame him. He is a supermarket supervisor and just had to endure the silly season.

Uh oh. . .

Yes, it was the dreaded rona. My partner got it then I tested positive today. So far I have just had the fever, aches, and fatigue, which ibuprofen has helped immensely. The rules in New Zealand say that only the people who have tested positive must isolate, their housemates are not required to isolate with them any more unless they also test positive, so I was able to get a whole bunch of supplies in anticipation of today when we are now in isolation together. We have pain relief, toilet paper (so much cheaper than a box of tissues and are easier to get the amount you’ll actually need), fluids, easy to prepare foods and lots of Throaties.

Today I spent a lot of time listening to audiobook and played some Final Fantasy Crisis Core Remake (thanks for the gift Dad!). I prefer to be horizontal, its more comfortable on the aches, and my appetite disappeared between lunch and dinner, so one of the silver linings of Covid might be that it helps me to lose the Christmas Pud that I put away. Stay tuned to see if I keep this mentality.
